To send content to a screen, it is necessary to control what is shown, when, and where. To do this, Shift has two ways to send content to a screen; each organization only has one of them configured:
Using Display Rules
Using Schedules
You can set up override schedules or display rules using Takeovers.
Display rules are in easy mode; all content is automatically displayed 24/7 unless date- or time-related display rules are adjusted.
Schedules work differently; all content needs a set date or time to be displayed on screen.
A Takeover is a setting that lets you temporarily override screen playback with specific content for a defined duration.
There are two Takeover modes available:
Point-in-Time Takeover: lets you show content at a specific date and time and play it once.
Recurring Takeover: lets you show content at a specific date and time, and it plays until it ends.
In selected content, set any Schedules, Display Rules, or Takeovers, and for inheritance, this will be shown on sub-organizations.
If you don't want to display inherited content on your screen, you can block it so it won't appear in this organization. This is available for organizations that have that feature. You can find a Block Content button in the Promotion Manager.
